Dr Vijay Roach has dedicated himself to educating women, men, the general public and, importantly, the medical profession about perinatal depression and anxiety. He is deeply and personally aware due to the impact the disease had on his wife, Cathie.
Vijay is a very personable, warm, funny and approachable public speaker who is happy to share his own experiences and have
a frank discussion about the challenges of motherhood and parenthood.
Vijay is an extremely well respected obstetrician and gynaecologist in private practice at North Shore Private Hospital and the Mater Hospital and public practice at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. A Councillor with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, he also lectures at the University of Sydney.
He is Chairman of the Gidget Foundation, the only organisation to focus primarily on raising awareness about perinatal mood disorders – depression and anxiety that occurs any time between conception and the end of the baby’s first year.
