Conversely – Engaging conversation and raising funds for charity, enriching community and stimulating debate.
Both a cautionary tale and an inspirational one, Greg’s personal story covers issues of DRUG ADDICTION and DEALING, the lure of FAME and FORTUNE, CORPORATE FRAUD, LIFE IN maximum security PRISON, followed by an extraordinary road to REHABILITATION and REDEMPTION ..… We have no doubt this will be one that will start conversations over the dinner table!
Greg Fisher’s mother said when he was a child, that he’d either be very successful or end up in jail – Greg did both. Having grown up in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, and determined to create a traditional life, despite being a gay man, Greg married, had a child, and created a booming business empire. After finally coming out, he was living the high life, attending A-list parties with the likes of Jo Bailey and Charlotte Dawson when things started to go awry, with addictions that progressed from cocaine to ecstasy to ice.
In 2004, he was jailed for corporate fraud and drug dealing and spent almost 8 years in prison, some in maximum security, sharing a cell with some of Australia’s most notorious criminals.
Since his release, Greg has become a well respected member of the not for profit community. He is the General Manager of Our Big Kitchen, a community kitchen in Bondi, as well as Chief Executive of Thread Together, a charity clothing those in need. He has written a fascinating memoir, Inside Out, which tells the story of his rise, fall, and rise again.
